Windmill Manor – Oxted, Surrey

A highly successful 60 bed care home scheme delivered with the implementation of sustainable energy resources

The scheme involved the redevelopment of the former Ajax factory site with a mixed-use development of commercial, industrial and healthcare uses, and a nursing home.

The 60 bed nursing home was designed to reflect the simplicity of the adjacent proposed
commercial and industrial buildings, whilst providing a safe and secure environment for general senior living with a specialist dementia care wing.

The scheme was an early embracement of a defined energy renewable strategy comprising the introduction of biomass plant, heat-recovery and ventilation, solar shading with brise-soleil installations; sun pipes and low energy lighting/control.

Adam acted as project manager/ employer agent, working at the time with a long term colleague (and now business partner) Mark Wilkinson who undertook the design and planning submission for the scheme.
