Eva Jiřičná, a former Associate Architect of Louis de Soissons Partnership, took on the role as the Lead Architect for the Brighton Marina project at the age of 29. In conjunction with Arup, the project engineers, new lightweight materials including GRP were developed and introduced into the scheme, some of which still remains in use decades later. The project lasted for 11 years, throughout the 1970’s, when it was eventually sold to a housing developer.
She has said “I look back now, and I think: how did I have the courage? I had to get on and just learn it”. Such an inspiring, humble and very down-to-earth person who continues her passion for architecture through her own practice in Prague.
