Essex Road – Rushden

Louis de Soissons use their sector expertise, professional and in-depth knowledge to obtain a challenging planning approval for this care home scheme

No. 2 Essex Road is a large detached Victorian House, it was converted some years ago into an elderly care home and then converted again in 2016 into an 8-bedroom residential care home.
This home currently provides 24-hour full care for 8 residents. The home provides specialist Acquired Brain Injury rehabilitation and support services, offering slow stream, short term and maintenance care and rehabilitation to its residents.

Our client initially submitted an application to East Northamptonshire Council for the demolition of detached two storey outbuilding; extension of existing 8-bedroom care home to create 8 additional bedroom suites with ancillary facilities and parking for 13 cars, which was subsequently refused.

Louis de Soissons was then contacted to help. Louis de Soissons researched council and government policies and compiled a detailed planning appeal using previous pre-application advice, which took into account points raised in the Planning Inspectorate’s decision notices, feedback and revised the scheme, which was later approved.

The client is now able to proceed with the proposal, where we will provide full architectural design for the scheme.
