Woodlands – Thief Lane, York
Louis de Soissons to provide full architectural detailed design, project management and contract administration services to extend this neurological re-habilitation centre
Woodlands is a purpose built Neurological Rehabilitation Centre located 1.5 miles to the East of the city of York. Standing in 1.42 hectares of landscaped gardens, the centre is an idyllic place for rehabilitation and respite care, being screened from adjacent land and buildings.
The original building was opened in 1991 as a Respite Care Centre for Multiple Sclerosis sufferers with the Christchurch Group taking over in 2012. This enabled the building to function as it does today without any major external alterations. Minor interior changes took place to provide specialist rooms for rehabilitation such as a kitchen and physiotherapy gym.
Our client intend to extend their existing 25 bedded single story unit by another 12 beds to include; a lounge, dining room, serving kitchen, store rooms, bathroom and office areas.
Louis de Soissons was contacted post planning, and commissioned to provide full architectural detailed design for the scheme.
