High Street – Southwold

Mixed use regeneration project retaining original Victorian façade

The redevelopment of this landmark, Victorian department store, in the centre of this thriving seaside town.

The project involved extensive and delicate planning negotiations to improve upon a previous planning consent.

The scheme was complicated by the creation of a new basement constructed whilst retaining the façade of the original Victorian building above.

The new building created two retail units and five residential units, designed with a contemporary marine character, which the client retained for their portfolio.

FatFace, the original retail tenant, re-occupied the main unit on completion and the five residential units were let swiftly thereafter.
